There is unfortunately a lot of bad press surrounding Los Cabos, Mexico and their string of senseless gang violence. The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning to the area, citing criminal activity and homicide. I feel it is important for every traveler to know the facts going to a new place, which is why I share this upfront. While these warnings were still in effect during my visit last month, I decided to go on my vacation regardless with a heightened sense of awareness and sensibility. Hotel Review: Westin Los Cabos

I have always associated the Westin hotel brand with upscale comfort. With their Heavenly bed and bath collection and a fairly predictable corporate vibe, I know that I can consistently expect a relaxed stay. So when I received an invitation to check out the newly opened Westin Los Cabos hotel at a discounted rate, I jumped at the chance to visit somewhere in Mexico I had never been for a relaxing getaway with my boyfriend. A 4-star hotel, the Westin Los Cabos opened this past April after the property was devastated by Hurricane Newton. The hotel was completely renovated to feature 147 villa-style units and was also converted into a Vistana vacation ownership location. Cinco de Mayo History in Puebla

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, and while most of us will celebrate with a taco and a margarita, the origins of this holiday are honorable and remarkable. On May 5, 1862, the Mexican Army successfully defeated the French forces at the Battle of Puebla. I had the opportunity to visit Puebla, Mexico, and learned all about the history and significance of this day.
